Instructional Design Online Learning
In this course, I delved into the fundamentals of instructional design and built a 5-weeks course focus on financial literacy for my seventh graders. I've learned to create student-centered courses with clear objectives, activities, and assessments, utilizing a blend of traditional classroom instruction and online collaboration. Through hands-on implementation using the Canvas platform, I've honed my skills in structuring courses effectively and fostering engaging learning experiences. Additionally, I've explored the importance and experienced the use of usability testing in refining course design, ensuring optimal usability for learners. Overall, this course has equipped me with the knowledge and tools to design and deliver effective instructional experiences tailored to meet the diverse needs of my students.

MODULE 1: Instructional Design
My instructional design course is centered on imparting financial literacy concepts to seventh-grade students. The course framework adopts a student-centric methodology, featuring well-defined objectives, activities, and assessments. It incorporates a combination of traditional classroom instruction and online collaboration facilitated through Canvas. Furthermore, the course integrates the COVA approach, offering students autonomy, ownership, and opportunities for authentic learning experiences.

Module 2: Implementation Stage
For the implementation phase of my online course, I opted for Canvas as the Learning Management System (LMS) due to its integration with our existing online platform. The course commences with a "Getting Started" segment encompassing vital information, including a welcome page, syllabus, course calendar, and a student-oriented Q&A section. Each module comprises an introductory video along with various activities and assignments. While the course design underscores student-centered activities, it also incorporates teacher-led guidance and discussion. As a blended course, it integrates both in-class and online components seamlessly.

Module 3: Usability & Reflection
The objective of conducting a usability test for my course is to assess the experience of both students and teachers, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of the course design from the learners' perspective. Through this process, I aim to identify any usability issues, navigation challenges, clarity concerns, technical errors, or content comprehension difficulties that learners may encounter while engaging with the course materials. By doing so, I can ensure that the course is user-friendly, fosters engagement, and effectively supports the achievement of learning outcomes. Additionally, usability testing facilitates the collection of valuable user feedback, which can be utilized to refine the course design, improve instructional materials, and enhance the overall learning experience for students.
