Little history of student's portfolio.

According to Slepcevic-Zach (2018), the concept of the portfolio incorporated into education was first discussed in the 1970s and has gradually gained momentum ever since. In the early 1990s, the incorporation of the portfolio was represented as one of the top three trends in education in the U.S. As technology evolves, more school districts designated more capital to acquire better technology for their teachers and students. More recently, since the Covid-19 pandemic, the commonness of e-learning has increased even more (Bahcekpath, 2023), and so has the integration of technology in the classroom (Pilgrim, J., Bledsoe, C., & Reily, S., 2012).
In this topic of the week podcast, we will explore the benefits of e-portfolios as E-portfolio helps students showcasing their mastery and skills (Tosun, 2011), how it solved the limitation of tradional student portfolios,  and potential future directions for e-portfolios in education.

Reflection

Through my journey in the ADL program, currently at 3/5 of the way, I have gained invaluable insights into various educational concepts and methodologies, including the significance of Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authentic learning opportunities (C.O.V.A), as well as the importance of Creating Significant  Learning Environment (CSLE)(Harapnuik, D. n.d.). These principles have greatly shaped my understanding of effective teaching and learning practices.

One idea that particularly resonates with me is the incorporation of e-portfolios into the classroom as a digital space for students to showcase, track their progress, and reflect on their educational journey. I love the idea and believe it will provides students with opportunity for express themself and teacher will know more about their students than just test scores. This one of the reasons why I proposed e-portfolios implementation (Innovation plan) at my campus.  E-portfolios offer a dynamic platform that goes beyond traditional assessment methods, allowing students to compiled a collection of their work samples, projects, and reflections.

As I reflect on the potential impact of e-portfolios in the classroom, I am inspired by the possibilities they offer for promoting student-centered learning, fostering a culture of reflection and growth, and cultivating a sense of belonging and empowerment among students. I am excited to integrate e-portfolios into my teaching practice and explore innovative ways to leverage this powerful tool to enhance student learning and success.
