If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

In The Beginning...

I want to use this African proverb, "If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." to emphasize the important of collaboration as I reflecting on my journey through the accelerated ADL program at Lamar University. This proverb reminded me that if I want to be successful and get the most out of this program, I would need a team.  At our very first meeting for EDLD 5305 and EDLD 5302, Dr. Harapnuik repeatedly encourages us to build a team to work together through this program. After reaching out to many ADL program participants, which lot of people stated that their group is full. I was hopeless. Fortunately, there were a few participants wouldn't mind open up their group and joined together.  Our group started with 5 participants, then 2 left the program, so now we are a group of 3.  I am working collaboratively with two amazing participants, Christy A. and Rachel B. They are a big help to me and I learned a lot.

Contribution to My learning Community

(Courses 5305 & 5302)

After the first week of the taking both 5302 & 5305, I was stressed out. Readings through the requirements of the programs and all the readings, videos, assignments, and supporting resources, I was overwhelmed. I worked full-time with two kids in kinder and pre-k, plus 1 cute 7 months old baby boy, so finding the time to go through all the course materials was difficult. I stayed up later most nights after putting the kids to sleep to watch the weekly meeting recordings and get the course work requirements completed. I have never submitted an assignment late and that is a success for me.

EDLD 5302 has helped me tremendously, especially understanding the Growth Mindset and applying it to my own learning through this ADL program. The ideas of creating online portfolio, writing blog, and posting contents online is still very much new to me. It's like an uncharted territory that I have never once thought of heading there. However, through collaboration with Christy A., I felt much better as she offers great resources that helped me. We do most of our collaboration with each other and share our thoughts through the GroupMe App for both EDLD 5305 and EDLD 5302.

In both EDLD 5305 and EDLD 5302, I did my best to participates in all of the discussion. One thing that I would do better in the future is writing and posting my response earlier to give other people more time to reply.  Writing is very difficult for me because English is my second language and it have been too long since I write. I am glad to be provided with ample opportunities to write in this program, it will definitely help me grows in my writing.

After careful consideration and reflecting what what I have contributed to my learning communities and areas of improvements needed, I scored myself in

EDLD 5305 - Disruptive Innovation Tech  - 40 out of 50

and

EDLD 5302 - Concepts of Educational Tech - 85 out of 100.

Overall, I really enjoyed taking these two courses together, especially collaborating with my team members and other participants of this ADL program. I am excited to continue working collaboratively and looking forward to what the next courses will brings.
